If I had to try sum this wedding up in three key points they would be: it was a day of love, it was a day about family and in spite of the weather it was a genuinely warm day.
Ronny, Nats and I first met at their initial Netherwood viewing and it felt as though we had known each other for years. By the end of their viewing, Nats and I had visualized her entire wedding (including lots of pretty and clouds of baby’s breath in the venue). Their wedding planning process was a dream. We laughed together, cried together, planned and dreamed together and came to love one another like family. It has been a privilege, an honour and a pure delight to be a part of this journey. These are two of the most warm hearted, kind and generous people I have come to know.
Both Ronny and Nats come from beautiful big Portuguese families. Nats referred to her big day as her “Big, Fat Portuguese Wedding” from start to finish. For anyone who has not yet had the joy of being a part of a Portuguese wedding, let me share a little: family and friends are sacred; love and affection are an integral part of this community make up; good food, good drink and good times are celebrated with the whole heart; and every single guest there was just so proud and so happy for our bride and groom. I love this couple, I love their family, I love their friends and I LOVED witnessing the respect, love and joy throughout this special day.
Their ceremony was one of the most warm, personal, reverent and beautiful I have had the honour of witnessing; and was conducted by their family Priest, Father Gerhard. Nats looked breathtaking in her custom made dress and cathedral length veil (complete with her and Ronny’s initials worked into the train half way down – a beautiful touch), and one of my favorite parts of their ceremony was that there was not one dry eye from either Ronny nor his 8 groomsmen as she walked down the aisle. I admit that I’d been doing pretty well until that moment and had to make use of a strategic hanky too …
Enjoy this celebration of laughter, love and light friends. Beautiful images by Jacki Bruniquel.
